“There is no condition that a godly man or woman can be in, but there is some promise or other in the Scripture to help him in that condition. And that is the way of his contentment, to go to the promises, and get from the promise, that which may supply.”
“But now, this is what the Lord, your Creator says, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel,
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you [from captivity];
I have called you by name; you are Mine!
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.
When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.
“For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;”
Here lies the secret to contentment! When faced with any trial or circumstance—-we have the promises of God to turn to. The Lord knew we would need to know in times of trouble that He would be with us. He is our only hope. Along with the promises, there are usually commands that precede the promise. We are wise to heed them!
When we are hit with uncertainty we must remember to:
6″ Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4
When we are in need we must remember:
25 “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.” Matthew 6:25-34
If we are wise, we will build our life on the sure Rock of Jesus Christ, and believe and trust in Him to take care of our every need, whether we are in trial or not.
We are told that we will have suffering in this life, and tribulation.
And when in the midst of trial and storm we can quiet our soul and rest in His love and sovereignty, and look unto Him alone to provide the grace we need to rest and trust in Him—-God is glorified!
He has promised to NEVER LEAVE US NOR FORSAKE US!!!!!!
AMEN! Hold ONTO the Promises!!!!!
