He Knows! He Knows!

He Knows! He Knows!

17 So it is evident that it was essential that He be made like His brethren in every respect, in order that He might become a merciful (sympathetic) and faithful High Priest in the things related to God, to make atonement and propitiation for the people’s sins.

18 For because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted (tested and tried), He is able [immediately] [c]to run to the cry of (assist, relieve) those who are being tempted and tested and tried [and who therefore are being exposed to suffering].

Hebrews 2:17-18 AMPC

Lately, the Lord has led me back to the letter to the Hebrews, and to gaze upon the Lord Jesus Himself, in all that He has been made to us by God, and to think on all the provision in Him for us as believers! And I want to share just this one specific precious thing that He is unto us because it has been my own consolation, and I pray it might become yours too!

Made Like Us in EVERY Respect

Jesus was made like unto us in every respect —- meaning — he became flesh — and shared our human nature (yet without sin). That means that He knows exactly how we feel in this miserable, fallen human nature. He knows what it feels like to be tired. He knows what it feels like to be sad. He knows what it feels like to have to be 100% dependent on God in Heaven for all things!

And it was necessary for Him to be made like unto us in human nature that He might be able to become the Great High Priest who is able to be merciful and SYMPATHETIC towards us frail human beings! Because if He did not become like unto us, He would never be able to perform the precious services of the High Priest in offering for us “gifts and sacrifices” unto God!

Because He Suffered, He Is Able To Succor Us

And because He was tempted and tried in the flesh, He is able to sympathize with all our temptations and afflictions, and is even greater in that He is able to give us grace in those times of need, to be our very present help in times of trouble!

And this is the precious point I desire to make to any who are reading this —- How can someone sympathize with us if they have not been through exactly what we are going through?

Aren’t the people on earth you feel closest to the ones who have gone through the same experiences as you have and are able to sympathize with you and able to understand all that you are thinking and feeling in it?

And yet, those people on earth are few and far between that we meet and who remain in our lives for longer than a season.

But there is One who sits on the right hand of the majesty on High who knows!

Yes! He knows!!!

He has been through every trial and temptation, and has been provoked, unloved, and rebelled against! He knows what we are going through, and how we feel, having been made like unto us in this humanity we are stuck in until He returns!

And this is a precious thing that we have in Christ Jesus, that we are able to run to Him at any second of the day, in our hearts, without another person in all the world who could know, and pour out our hearts to Him, and find our rest and security in His sympathy towards us because He Knows!

Haven’t we learned already that to run to another human being who can not sympathize with us in our temptation and affliction is vain? And that the only One to whom we should be running if we have been bought with His precious Blood is Jesus Himself?

He is the only One who knows! And the only One who can truly sympathize with us in whatever we are going through at ALL times! Yes, there will be those on earth who have shared experience and who can know, but they are not always there or able to communicate with us in the moment of need like the Lord Jesus is!

Let us think on this, and come to know Him truly as He is to us, our only true source of refuge and sympathy in our times of need! He will never fail us because He is faithful and true!!!
